The Round table
Pioneers of philosophical practice around the table
Pia Houni facilitates a roundtable discussion in which invited practitioners reflect on their philosophical practice from the perspectives of both the discipline and activism. In addition to reflecting on the past, what kinds of questions should we be asking today, and what kinds of activities should we engage in or practices should we cultivate? Does philosophical practice have a responsibility to support change, not only in individuals but also in society at large?
Activism is not a new idea in philosophical practice. Through their pioneering work, many of the practitioners who are now well known in the field, including participants in the Round Table, and many others, have paved the way for contemporary discussions and for practising philosophy in a manner that breathes new life into ancient wisdom.
